rear seals

i was wondering how hard it is to change the rear axle and pinion seals. i was thinking about doing it myself, but i first wanted to know how difficult it is. My mechanic told me that the seals were leaking oil into the brakes, and that it needs to be fixed pronto. He told me thatd it would probably be around 4oo to fix it if he did it, so i wanna save some dough and do it myself. Any recomendations?

Welcome to TGO. A search will nearly always provide the info you're looking for. Check the following link for the axle seals:

BTW, if the seals are leaking, the bearings are probably shot--and perhaps the axles as well. If so, you might consider an off-set bearing or axle saver bearing.
