B&M kickdown valve

Anyone have one? How do you like it. I want to be able to get into OD at full throttle. This will probably help my E.T. alot in the 1/8th. Going down to M.A.M. this weekend and dont want my 305 to get its *** handled by stock civics. lol

Im putting in a 3.73 gov loc and a shift kit by B&M aswell. Wish I could afford the LS1 driveshaft right now too.

Got a set of new 275/60 15s Im gonna throw on too...

Re: B&M kickdown valve

You're shifting into overdrive in the 1/8 mile?

The B&M will still allow the transmission to shift from 4-3. It's just that it takes more gas pedal for it to occur. So instead of downshifting into 3rd and coming into 3rd at the red line, it will be higher (way into the red).

You want this one. http://www.transmissionpartsusa.com/...-7796694mk.htm

The 77966-94MK has the part throttle holes solid (no holes). This allows the WOT 3-4 shift to occur.

Re: B&M kickdown valve

Is that going to effect any of my other shifts? What i mean is will it go OD at notmal 1/4 throttle or so?

Re: B&M kickdown valve

Makes no difference shifting 1-2-3-4 (with the exception that you can make a WOT 3-4)

As for downshifting, it means you need more gas pedal to make the 4-3 shift during normal driving. And anything above 90 mph or so, it will stay in 4th gear even with the pedal to the floor (assuming you were already cruising in 4th).....I like this feature. Because when you're going that fast, you don't really need a downshift to 3rd. You'd be running out of room in 3rd gear fast enough anyways. (You could manually pull it back into 3rd if you really wanted to.)

It's just the part throttle 4-3 shift that's eliminated with the valve. The annoying one that gives you the 4-3-4-3-4-3 constant back and forth shifting. If you slow the car down enough, it will still make the regular downshift to 3rd on it's own.

An example would be going 45 mph in O/D and then merging on to a highway. With the valve, it would take about 70% throttle to get a downshift. Without the valve, it would take about 30% throttle to get the downshift. The faster you go, the more gas pedal you need to make the 4-3 downshift.

The valve makes the car shift like the C4 Corvettes did.

Re: B&M kickdown valve

You can install two Allen plugs in the 4-3 downshift passages in your existing throttle valve bushing to accomplish the same thing. You do not have to remove the valve body for this. I can fax the instructions on how to do this. The cost of two Allen screws, about 40 cents.

Re: B&M kickdown valve

Hey Dana,

This is the directions you sent me when I bought your modified Trasngo kit. So I need to plug both the holes, even though only 1 of the holes is identified? What size Allen screws do I need to buy? Why is there A, X, and B identifiers?

Re: B&M kickdown valve

i have the valve and it works great, does wat it says it does. i can cruize at higher speeds like 120mph lol. if u step down on the go pedal more than 60-70 % then it will downshift from 4-3 but if u stay below that 60-70% it will stay in 4th resulting in higher cruizing speeds. it was wayy better than sstock but im gona do the WOT4th gear valve mod stated above... since i want more lol. so please post the instructions and parts needed.. thanks dana

Re: B&M kickdown valve

The Allen plug measures .160" - .162" in diameter. It is "self tapping". I modified the instructions from Steve Younger to prevent the 4-3 downshift at higher speeds. So X and B are not involved anymore. Dana

Re: B&M kickdown valve

Look's like you have to plug both of those holes.

Re: B&M kickdown valve

I get them at a hardware store. There will be two holes "A" to plug.
