How hard is it to replace a pinion bearing?

I've been looking for a limited slip rear for my '84 Z28 and I've only found one around here. The wrecker dude told me it needs a new pinion bearing. Is this a difficult job? It's a '91 with a 3.42 ratio. I was hoping to just change fluid and swap it (the whole axle) in because I don't want to wreck anything. Thanks

not a hard job, but requires some tools most people don't have. you'd need a inch pound torque wrench, with a dial. depth mike, or pinion setting gauge, dial indiactor, and a press and bearing seperator. it should only be a few hours labor for a garage to do it, you might want to ask around. if you want to do it your self post again or e mail me and i'll run through it for you a little more.

Thanks for the info. I don't have those tools so I'll get some quotes and decide whether it's worth it... if not I'll probably just hold out for some 3.73s!
