vss help

Car: 1988 camaro sc
Engine: nasty 305 tbi,tba 632 big block
Transmission: built 700r4
Axle/Gears: 3.23
vss help

can anyone tell me were the vss is on my 88 sc camaro 305 tbi? i have an idea but not exactly sure,also is hard to change? i put a code scanner to my car and pulled a code 24 vss shorted and 44 o2 sensor is shorted

Rear of the cluster, IIRC. According to my 85 shop manual, you're to disregard code 24 if the car isn't moving.

The vss sensor itself is on the tranny. look on the drivers side rear of tranny for a plug. and the vss buffer box is on the pass side under dash a yellow box about 4in square if you look up under the dash just behind the panel it there.

On a '91 it is on the tranny itself. On a '88 that the OP has, it is behind the guage cluster as James has stated.
