If that converter isn't a lock-up then don't use it. I learned this the hard way myself.

I heard that the more stall you go with the less it's going to chirp (someone correct me).

I'd go with a TransGo shift kit (it includes a Vette or Vette-like servo).

As far as a rebuild you can buy the TCI kit if you want slightly better than stock status, but the right way is to do the 'typical' high performance updates/upgrades (which seem to be a trade secret).

I'm far from an expert, but I did rebuild two. I have yet to find the answers to all my questions on this subject.

TPI,

How hard was the rebuild? Were they your first tranny rebuilds? Just wondering because Im thinking of doing this myself. I just need some more confidence before attempting it.

anyone else? i dont plan on doing the rebuild myself. i just want to know what i should tell the guy that is going ot do it.. i want a hard hitting tranny.. i do know enough now that i need to tell them to put the vette servo in. also when i first starting coming here i remember a tech letter bout bumping up the line pressure.. the guy had a whole list of stuff he bought for his tranny. does anyone else remember this? and if i remember right it said not to get a shift kit? so should i or not? and if so what is the best out there. what else should i have or ask the tranny man to do? so maybe i shouldnt use that stall? is that to high of a stall?? i may sound stupid but i know nothing at all bout trannies. i just know that i want one that barks the tires when i am going fast or slow!! thanks

Hi, just my .02 Id stay away from the shift kit, just thinking about the way my car is in the rain/wet. I did just install a new tranny into my car, the tranny was made with a high performance intermediate billet servo
that supposedly has way more hloding power then a vette servo. Its been 2 days now and I love it, I was suprised by the fact that the tranny has an 1800 stall, that seems much like the stock converter. I do gotta say it grabs the gears quite aggressively and with certain firmness.
