B&M Shift improvement kit ????????

How does it work, what will it do, and will it damage my tranny. (i dont manually shift all that much just a few times on friday nights)

p.s. this is a little extra question...

Sometimes when i accelerate up a hill with more throttle than ussual i get a popping type sound from the tranny, it does not slip out of gear, does anybody know what that means ?

all the shift kit is is a new plate that goes in the valve body, you do a little work on some minor parts, change the number of check *****. it will make your shifts firmer. won't hurt your trans. some kits allow you to make it manual valve body, rv towing, or street preformance.

The B&M Shift Improver Kit doesn't come with a new plate... it comes with two small drill bits. You enlarge two holes with one bit, and one hole with another. Kinda sucks, if you ever want to "go back to stock" you can't without buying a new plate.

Get the TransGo shift kit instead. Many people on this board have experienced problems with B&M kits. My dad only uses TransGo kits when he rebuilds tranmissions, too. Also, "shift kit" is a trademark of TransGo.

Yes there are very few people who are happy with the B&M kit.
I would take Kevin's advice and spend the extra money on the TRans Go kit.

If you have any questions concerning the Trans-Go Shift kit I am sure I can help!!
The Trans-Go Shift addresses the problems the are inherent in the 700R4. There a lot of other things you can do besides the Shift kit. A Corvette servo, .471-.500 main boost valve, .296 intermediate/reverse boost valve, a special pressure regulator valve, etc. Call me and I will try to answer any of your concerns about doing this.
Glad Too help!!!

ProBuilt,

Can you enlighten me to whether or not the B&M TransPak (NOT the Shift Improver Kit) is ok? I have used both and have had excellent results with the Transpak and it seems like great bang-for-the-buck.

I guess I am asking you if you could, please for my education, compare/contrast the TransGo to the Transpak, if you have any Transpak experience (which I assume you do)

91Z28, as far as your extra question goes, try checking out your tranny mount. It sounds like that could be broken and making your "popping" noise.
