TH700R4 question?
I have an '86 IROC with a TH700R4 that has some internal problems, metal in the pan, etc. I have another TH700R4 from a '91 camaro 60degree V6.Irealise that the cases are different. But are the internal parts (the rotating stuff especially)interchangable?

Yes they are. There is rumor that the foward sprag in the V6 is weaker, but everything else is the same. However, you will have to keep your valvebody. There were changes to the case to accomodate for the auxillary valvebody wich your '86 doesn't have, but the internal hardparts/clutches are OK to use.

I agree; get new internals if you're going to go that far. You can get a B&M "Super Rebuilt Kit" for about $300, they also sell a cheaper one which has no instructions.
You can find normal rebuild kits from online stores like http://www.carparts.com , http://www.wrenchhead.com , http://www.expressautoparts.com , and etc. In fact if you go through http://www.yahoo.com and search for "Carparts.com Coupon", you can sometimes find great online coupons! I had one for $50 off a $100 order.. bought $110 worth for $60.
If nothing else, those places can give you part #'s and prices to bring to your advance auto friend.
