Very nasty sounding grind going into reverse
Very nasty sounding grind going into reverse
I tried to get my car going for the first time in a week or so.. I already know my 1st gear is almost impossible to get into but when i try and get it into reverse.. It makes a very very nasty grinding noise.. Like you can hear it 20-30 feet away..Sounds like someone put a handful of metal chunks in a blender.. And it wont even go into reverse.. unless i have to put a crapload of force into it but im scared to do so.
What is the problem?

Sounds like your clutch is not releasing.

The t-5 has no reverse syncro's so your really smashing up your teeth on the gear cause the shaft is still moving. Once you get the clutch replaced or figure out what's wrong with it, could be master/slave problem to, try putting the tranny into a forward gear first before you put it into reverse, helps with the shift.

mine did that too, was pretty bad noise. so i used to put it in 1st for a sec then reverse and it was good. now i even slap it in 5th then slap it straight down into reverse and it doesnt make a sound. hopes this helps. Thread
