Who can shift into 4th in WOT? Is the B&M kit any good?
Just wondering who has the B&M kit to let you shift up into 4th at WOT? Is the kit any good and how easy is it to install? I'm presuming that by managing to upshift into 4th I'll increase my top speed? Currently I'm running out of 3rd (occasionally.

Yep, the B&M kit won't allow a WOT 3-4 upshift. It allows you to keep the gas almost-floored in 4th. I have the B&M one, and love it, but didn't know about the 3-4 WOT GM valve back then.

B&M makes 2 different kits, one will allow almost full throttle, and one will allow full throttle upshifts. They both suck, but the Gm part, its cheaper anyhow.

I have the B & M kickdown sleeve, and it does nothing for my 3-4 shift at all. I have adjusted my tranny all throughout the tv cables' range and nothing, I've done over 145 mph in third and still not been able to get into fourth, and this is with a transgo shift kit. I think the tranny being an 85' has a lot to do with it, 7 vane oil pump and such instead of 10 vane. Just my 2 cents, we'll see what happens when I get this 88 tranny re-built to put in.

I am surprised Bernard (GMTech) hasn't responded. I am the first to admit that I am "Transmissionally Challenged". But in response to "Who can shift into 4th @ WOT"? My GM SRTA 4L60 Remanufactured tranny can!
When I first got my GTA, I found out the dangerous way that my original 4L60 could not upshift into 4th @ WOT. I was passing 3 semi-trailers travelling in tight formation and just as I started to pass the 3rd semi...I found that my tranny could not upshift into 4th @ WOT...and a car was now heading towards me.
Surviving the incident and the mild heart attack afttwards, I immediately went to the dealership (where my sister works) and complained about the upshift problem. I explained the circumstances and got a free upgrade. I forget the exact fix, something like a different valve body from the Corvette or B4C trannies at that time. It definitely fixed the problem and my tranny would then upshift into 4th @ WOT.
Then I started to make some bolt-on mods and in 1995, my original tranny blew a seal. This time I got a warranty replacement GM SRTA 4L60. They explained that this had the internals from a 4L60E, in the then current 4th Gen, but with the case was 700R4/4L60 and had manual valving instead of the electronics of the 4L60E.
This tranny does everthing beautifully and better than my original tranny. After all it died blowing a seal and I was definitely not putting out any serious power with just bolt-ons. I have subsequently add a little more HP with more bolt-ons and has had far more abuse than my original tranny. I suspect it would have already failed again if I had just had it rebuilt.
Hopefully, GMTech will come by and tell you the exact part you need to fix your 700R4/4L60 so it can upshift into 4th @ WOT.
PS: If I ever blow my current tranny, I would get another GM SRTA 4L60. I figure it would even handle more power since the current 4L60E can handle the power of the LS1.
