torque arm?

ok im gonna do my tranny swap pretty soon, although it seems that everyone has a different opinion on the torque arm, what should i do about it, should i just unbolt the mount from the tranny or should i remove it completely while im doing the tranny swap? whats the best way to handle it? thanks in advance for everyone`s help, I love this board.

You GOTTA have the torque arm no matter what. Otherwise your rear-end is gonna move all over the place... especially when you drag race.

if you're doing a r&r on the trans just unbolt it from the trans mount while you do the r&r. as you were told before you can't leave it off.

i always pull it off when i R/R the trans, but i have a lift and air tools so it only takes a minute to remove. Ede says it doesnt get in the way if you leave it hooked to the rear and i dont doubt him for a second.

Well I think it's a NO brainer on how to remove it. It only has two attaching points. The two bolts that bolt up to the differential. Take em out, slide it out and do your work. DOH! lol

Blade i know how to remove it, my question is if it is neccesary to take it out completely, or just disconnect it from one end. and if it is in the way while trying to remove the trans.

Just remove it from the tranny, you don't need to take it completely off.

Before i remove the torque arm, i put a floor jack under the panhard bar mount on the LR of the axle to stop the axle from rotating when i remove the bolts.

I've must have done this a millions time and all different ways. The best way I've found is remove the 2 bolt in the back, slide it out of the mount and THEN when ready to put it back in put a jack under the rear. It will spin a little when the arm is removed but once you put a jack under it and start jacking it will straighten up. Just jack it until the rear is straight it shouldnt move the car up much. This way you don't have the arm or jack in the way until its ready to go in and you dont have to fight with the arm and rear to put it back in. Hope this helps

should you remove the springs before removing the torque arm?
