considering the t5 swap
well guys, I think Im going to buy a full t5 swap so now I'm wondering if anyone has any pics of the holes they had to cut in the firewall, or just any other misc pics and measurements of where to make the holes. and how hard is this swap (700r4-t5)? keep in mind I've only pulled automatic trannys before so how different is installing a manual instead of an auto?
thanks, any help is welcome.

Re: considering the t5 swap
the swap is rather simple and straight forward, just make sure you have all the right parts before you start. I found the hardest part was swapping the pedals.
as for the hole in the firewall, the insulation on the fireall where the master goes actually have a perforation for the shape and almost exact location of the master. a better way to be sure is to install the pedals first, then make the holes based on the bracket that reinforces the master to firewall connection.

Re: considering the t5 swap
alright, I just came in from the garage and I was wondering if that cutout was for the master. so this swap is really straight forward, thats good. I was talking to a few guys at work and they told me a story of when they did a 5 speed swap into a mustang, they said it was a nightmare so that got me pretty worried.
got any pics of your pedals/master set up?
also heres the swap I'm planning on buying, this should be fine right? for some reason the link doesn't seem to work so just copy and paste it in.

Re: considering the t5 swap
still doesnt work
its not that bad, the trans is a bolt on deal, though i would recommend a new flywheel/clutch/pressureplate, no point using old questionable stuff.
I dont have a pic of the pedals, i used to but my computer was recently killed by a mega virus and i lost everything, so i have no pics as of now.
Like i said, the cutout is pretty close, but if you bolt the pedals in first, there are 2 arms that comedown and the bolts that hole the master to the firewall go through them, so they will give you an exact layout of there those 2 holes need to be as well as the oval one for the master.
Wiring is not bad so long as the pedals come with all the propper switches, which i think is just the neutral safty, and the trans has all the right snensors.
then there is just wiring. The neutral safety wires should already be hanging under the dash by the pedals, its a large purple and a large yellow wire.
then if you have a electric speedo, the wires are also purple and yellow and are hangin by the trans, if its a cable, just hook it up. then there are reverse light wires on the selector switch on the auto shifter, they need to be extended and connected to the trans. I think thats it.

Re: considering the t5 swap
thanks for all the help 86, Im pretty much a newbie when it comes to this stuff, I should stick to body work lol

heres what hes including

Bellhousing with hydraulic bracket
Aluminum Slave cylinder.
Master cylinder.
Slave line
Reservior and bracket
Flywheel (please specify which you need. 1 pc or 2 pc RMS)
Clutch (has 2000 miles on it)
Shifter
Poly trans mount
Cross member
Poly torque arm mount and bracket
Pedals
All associated hardware
and I should have the electric speedo I would think.

Re: considering the t5 swap
its sounds good, and the aluminum slave is a bonus too. If the price is withing your budget i would pick it up. It seems to be complete and has the torque arm bracket which cam be a pain to find. Does it come with a shifter plate? they are really hard to find, especially for a bird.

Re: considering the t5 swap
86- I don't think it comes with the plate but Im pretty good with fiberglass so I'm not worried because I could make one just as easy.
jamesC- thanks for the link, thats got alot of what I'm looking for. but if anyone else has pics or advise from their swap feel free to post!
