Gears, what is faster off the line
Gears, what is faster off the line
I have a 91 Camaro. I did the LT1 swap, used an LT1 out of a 97 Trans Am. the 02 Trans Am WS6 used the LS1 engine, with 3.42 gears i believe... or was it 3.55?
Anyway, my question is... would a stock Trans Am WS6 be faster off the line than if I took my car and just put in 3.73 gears? I'm just trying to get an idea of how big of a difference gears make. would it overcome the 45hp difference?

Re: Gears, what is faster off the line
It all depends on your tire size and the powerband of your engine. You will also need tires that can handle the extra torque. Gears don't always mean that a car will be faster.
