Can I run a 4L60?

I have a 4L60 out of a 98 Z28. What do I have to do to be able to run it? I'm thinking of running it with a Vortec 350 with a 85 TPI and computer on it. What do I need to do to make it work?

the trannys out of the new ones are 4L60-E. the 4L60 without the E is another name for 700R4. i think you will need the computer out of the car your getting the tranny. because it is computer controled. i may be wrong

Yes, it is a 4L60 E. Would the 98 computer run the TPI vortec? Would I just need a custom chip?

You can buy a computer specifically designed to run the 4L60E, but I dont remember where I saw it. Maybe Summit or Jegs? Or B&M?

Ok, would I then be running two computers, One for the motor and one for the car?

Thanks for the replies.

I don't think you could convert the 98 PCM for your ECM. Most importantly, the 98 PCM is OBDII so hacks are not available to my knowledge. There are completely different sensors with the 98 PCM, plus the whole ignition system is different too.

The dual computers I think is the most effective and simplest solution.

Im Not sure how Much the Computer would run You, but its not going to be Cheap.

Why Not Just Buy a 4L60, or trade Your 4L60E for one ?
