Can you rebuild and retain a shift kit?

Im just wondering cause my tranny has 200,000 miles on it and im installing a transgo shift kit in it soon. But when i put the 350 in later this year im scared it might crap out on me. If it was to get ruined could i then rebuild it and not have my $130 transgo be a waste?

The shift kit modifies the valve body, which isn't changed during a rebuild.

Whoever rebuilds your tranny will be unfamiliar with the kit and most likely reinstall everything improperly. I would wait. 200K is a SH!TLOAD of miles.

Thanks for the opinion mike. I think I am just going to go ahead and install it on my tranny. The car has 200,000 miles on it, but who knows...that tranny might have been replaced. I bought it used and the guy who had it before me said he knew nothing of the car cause he only had it for a few months and only used it for commuting. If the tranny does crap out on me, Ill either rebuild it myself or take it to someone who knows about the transgo kit and can rebuild it while still retaining all of the new shift kit equipment. But in the meantime, im just gonna hope it doesnt bust

If I were you I'd go ahead and install the shift kit, but if you see ANY metal/clutches in the pan when you pull it you NEED TO HAVE IT REBUILT THEN AND THERE!

If you don't then it will burn up within a few days.
