3.73s, need to recalibrate speedo ASAP

I just put 3.73s in from 3.08s. This means that my speedo is reading about 125% of what it should. GM doesn't make speedo gears to fix the problem, does anybody know how I can fix this? I've heard of speed shops building some kind of add-on box with another set of gears to fix the problem. Anybody know anything about this???

Any help is greatly appreciated and needed,

Jason

Stock T-5 tranny and the stock 15" wheels and tires. The diameter of the tire when mounted is approximately 25" if that helps you all (I measured).

89BlwnRs,
I'm in the process of having my gears changed from 2.73 to 3.73. My car being an 86 has a mechanical driven speedometer, yours has the electronic so the regular ratio boxes wouldn't help you. Either of these sights can help you. Try:
http://www.specmo.com/NewFiles/Calib...libration.html

They deal with factory instruments as well as other things. I know they sell something that will work. For pricing and such you could also try:
http://www.speedometershop.com/ratio.html

Hope this helped you out

Actually I have a mechanical speedo, at least I'm pretty sure. Anybody know what 89s have?

89 Camaros have the cable speedo, and if you searched this board, you'd have seen that you need a 7 tooth purple drive gear, and a 21 tooth driven gear. I dunno its color, I think red?

Well Kev, you were right about the 7/21 combo, except I just got off the phone and GM doesn't make a 21 tooth gear, just a 20 and 22. The only problem is the 20 tooth gear is $45.71.

But there's hope, instead I can buy a ratio adapter for $50 that'll get it pretty close, and I don't even have to remove the tailshaft of the transmission. Sounds good to me, just lettign everybody know about this.

What?? I need a 20 tooth gear for my setup! I was told they didnt make one. Maybe they dont make them for electronic speedos. The 21 tooth gear is stock in 3.73 cars from 83-85. Weird that they stopped making it. Someone mentioned that earlier.
