My throttle is sticking Help!
Yeah I know, what the heck? About half the time I keep my car floored through a first and second gears the pedal will stick to the floor and scare the pee out of me and whoever is riding with me. I can tap it and it will usually pop right out, but I am scared to even give it any gas the way it is. I had been adjusting the kickdown cable lately so I suppose that is it. It is definitely not hanging up on my carpet. And I can not make it stick when the engine is off. So does anybody have any suggestions??
Need answers asap so I don't kill myself. I didn't think I did anything wrong while adjusting the tv cable but I don't know. Maybe I forgot something???
Thanks for the help.

The throttle shafts might be gummed up. Holley carbs are famous for doing that. Disconnect the throttle body from all the cables and operate it manually. If it sticks when it is by itself, the throttle shafts could be gummed up. Also look at the throttle spring that is part of the throttle body. If it is broke, it could be binding. I think it is the main return spring for the whole throttle system. I do not remember if TPI has as external return spring. If it does, it could be broke. If the throttle body operates fine solo, the kickdown cables could be jamming. The Throttle valve(TV) in the tranny could be gummed up and jamming. Also where the TV cable goes into the tranny, there is a hook inside the end of the cable that could be catching on something. The throttle cable itself could be jamming up. The pedal assembly could be catching on something under the dash too. If the throttle body being gummed up is the culprit, take it off, and while opening and closing the throttle shaft squirt brake cleaner on the shafts and flush the crap out between the throttle shafts and the housing. Remember to remove the TPS sensor and IAC motor though! Brake cleaner destroys the electronics' insulation! Hope that will help, that is everything I could think of off the top of my head. Good luck.

Your kickdown cable will not cause that. definately check the throttle cable for binding and the return spring fo proper operation. lastly check for carbon buildup on the throttle shafts. As a side not you can't adjust a self adjusting tv cable. It will only readjust the next time you hit wot.
