Anyone have a performance transmission in here?

From manufacturers such as Art Carr, level 10, Pro-built, ect. What impressions/comments have they left you with? How are they holding up, prices (don't want to spend more than 15-1600) and to what power level (e.t's would be great) Thank's for your help.
PS what is the web adress for Pro built?

I ordered all of my rebuild parts, Vigilante, and a Trans-go Stage III shift kit from pro-built. They have good prices and have awesome customer service.

I highly recommend them.

Dan,
I have experience of a couple of transmissions in my 85 Trans Am.
I firstly replaced the original with a TCI 700R4 and convertor. This gave me a severe shift especially from 1st to 2nd.It relly was hopeless for around town and ended up breaking my transmission mount.
A friend of mine fitted a trans go kit and whilst it was quite good it was a real pain to fit.
Finally I bought a B&M 700 R4 and convertor and this has been really good, with a positive shift on light throttle and a much firmer shift when accelerating hard.So far I have covered about 15000 miles with no problem.Make sure whatever you use ,FIT A COOLER!!
Cheers powermite(john)

Man, for $1400, a trans shop gave me a POS that crapped out on me after a year and a half. Of course, they did install it themselves. The next one I installed myself- and when this one dies I'll go one step further- rebuild it myself, and install it myself. If THAT one dies...

I purchased a unit from Hughes Performance www.hughesperformance.com for $1495 and am really satisfied. This is after a chain of tranny problems from so-called racing transmission shops (no offense). Anyway, they base theirs on a late model casing with Corvette servo and converter, and it shifts as hard at WOT as my previous "professional" ones and gets me a nice scratch on the 1-2 and sometimes the 2-3 shifts, however, still shifts smoothly at lower, street speeds.

See my website for the story of my tranny (racing news page).

I can say stay away from Art Carr.

I've heard good things from the people on this board about Pro-Built. Their web address is www.pro-built.net

I'm very happy with my Probuilt tranny. It shifts firmly with the Trans Go kit w/o being ridiculously harsh like my original stock tranny with Fairbanks Hyperaction kit. The price was well within the budget in your original post. I'm only running high 13s but am confident this tranny will handle much more power/torque.

Just as important, Dana answered all my questions my calls and returned my messages in a very timely fashion. There are no gurantees but my experience has been excellent.
