If you put in a lower gear you will need a lighter governor like came in police packages and taxis

Re: early,sloppy shifts

The car feeling like it's shifting to quickly now? or alittle sluggish? I had the same issue after I put in my 3.42's. the sonnax tv spring along with a shift kit helps firm things up abit.

Re: early,sloppy shifts

seems like anytime i get on the throttle it wants to shift sooner than before. i have read about the spring, i dont understand where it goes(yes the tv cable but is it on the trans or in the engine bay, anyway you can post a picc?. i do intend on putting in a transgo shift kit over christmas break though.

It's real easy to install just remember to reset for TV cable afterwards for proper tension.

Re: early,sloppy shifts

You have to reset the TV cable that you attached the sonnax spring to. It's real easy, here's a quick break down.

You will see a big "D" shaped connector on the throttle bracket that the cable goes through
Press and hold the "D" shaped botton while pulling the cable towards the firewall.

Afterwards, pull the thottle ALL the way open until you here the cable "click". That is the basic way to reset the cable.

Re: early,sloppy shifts

dont forget to recalibrate the speedo too. I'm in the same boat, and read over the weekend that the vehicle speed sensor supplies input to the ecm for controlling tcc lockup, mainly, and there was also another condition (tps% vs kPa or maybe rpms) but it mainly looked at vss first. gear stacking is for gas mileage... holding rpms is much more fun. that will only affect 4th and O/D, and not 1.2.3. i like the shift kit idea, and then the spring... seems redundant though, to a point. maybe exaclty the opposite and complimentary, I wonder. guess if robertfrank has both, it's all good?

Re: early,sloppy shifts

My car doesn't have a VSS so I guess I'm good, BUT....... I still have yet to change out the speedo gears so my readings are off. As far as a redundancy in having bith the shift kit and the spring I can't imagine drivung my car without either. I recently drove a stock 305 tbi car and to me the differance is astounding.

Re: early,sloppy shifts

I have a very similar problem. It shifts into OD at 42 and locks the converter and then shakes pretty harsh. Whats the problem with my car.
