clutch installation ?'s

I have searched the tech and msg board, with no luck. I'm an idiot when it comes to replacing the clutch, and I have came to the conclusion with the help of the board that it needs replaced. Is there any articles that would help me replace it. I have never fooled with a manual tranny. Chiltons is pretty vague on this. Any help would be appreciated. BTW I'm just going with stock, I have plans for a new tranny within the year. Thanks in advance.

It's really not very hard. You take out the trans (that's the main hassle), take off the bell housing, undo the 6 clutch bolts and throw them away, undo the 6 flywheel bolts and throw them away too, and take the flywheel to a nachine shop to be resurfaced. You need a clutch disc & pressure plate, a throwout bearing, a pilot bearing, and a set each of clutch and flywheel bolts.

I'd recommend a Centerforce Dual Friction clutch. I've had 2 of them so far. It's unquestionably the easiest to drive clutch I've ever had, but hooks up like a solid piece of metal when it's time to go.

Yeah. Make sure to use a clutch alignment tool and correctly (some people just put the clutch plate on it and let it hang which makes it way out of center). I suggest a roller pilot bearing while you're in there, at worse, change the pilot bushing. The roller bearings don't cost that much more. One sure way to kill a new clutch is to put too much grease on the input shaft. Just coat it lightly, some people use graphite. I used white lithium grease but it will melt in high temp situations (above 240* coolant temp).
