Sometimes shifts 2-3

Alright a couple days ago i noticed that my tranny wasn't shifting from 2-3. Then the next day it worked fine, but halfway home from work today it stopped working.

Gear selector possibly?, fluids good, and TV cables fine. Ill look into the cable connection, but anyone got any other ideas.

If the trannies trashed im going T-56 anyway.

sometimes loose material will get into the valvebody. Just remove the valvebody, disassemble and clean everything good. Should fix it up.
If you don't want to clean the valvebody yourself just take it to a tranny shop and let them do the valvebody as a bench-job.

good luck

If you are not familiar with transmissions, i highly recomend not to take your valve body off. there are small check ***** that must go back in the same place and if they dont it will mess up the tranny. just my. 02 i made the mistake and tried to put a shift kit in a 700r4. i can do alot of things, but i found out trannys is not one of them.

More than likely the problem is the 3-4 clutches are slipping. GM did not put enough cluch plates in the 3-4 clutch pack and this is a weak point. A good rebuilder will add additional clutches in the 3-4 pack to make it stronger.

What does the 3-4 clutches have to do with a 2-3 shift?

Joel...

The fact that the 3-4 clutch is applied in third or fourth gear is what the is probably causing the problem. The 3-4 refers to the gears the clutch is applied in, not the shift that it affects.

If you're experienced w/ 700r4s maybe you can help me with a prob...

My trans has 'neutral' lag time between 2-3 shift and my 1-2 shift point increased itself from 4500 to 5800 rpm by itself. It's not the TV cable and when in gear hold strong (no slip) I would rebuild it myself (I did them before) but troubleshooting these things seems difficult. Any help would be appc'd.
