Re: 4l60e question?
isnt there a diff in length of the crank that will push the converter in to far. i think thats what i heard but not sure.
what im trying to do is use a gen 1 sbc w/1piece rear seal
bolted to a 4l60e trans and c5 vette diff !
i know i need a bell housing from a 4th gen. but is there ay kind of spacer or
something i need

Re: 4l60e question?
get a 4l60e from behind an lt1 and it will bolt up just like a 700r4...the ls1 4l60e has a modular bellhousing that can be unbolted from the trans like on a manual tranny but the lt1 trans doesnt its identical to a 700r4 in size and basic shape...just buy a torque convertor for a lt1 car and a flexplate for a sbc/700r4 combo....
----------
you should probably just get a built 700r4 though....

Re: 4l60e question?
this is for another project. i cant use the lt1 4l60e or the 700r4.
because this is going to be a mid engine set up! i am using a 4l60e from a c5 corvette and the corvette differential witch bolts in place of the tail housing.
controling it isnt that big of a problem(aftermarket controller).
so will everything bolt up the same converter wise?
this is going in a 68 corvair by the way

Re: 4l60e question?
hmm then i dont know what to tell u why dont u just go with an GEN III motor since u know how it bolts up....plus the GEN III is a far superior engine to anything chevy put out before 1997.....
