Will a bad pilot bearing cause clutch chatter?

I changed my clutch last summer. I had clutch chatter with the old clutch and after a week or two with the new clutch it started to chatter also. I had the flywheel resurfaced but I did not put in a new pilot bushing, unless the machine shop did it but I doubt it. Could this cause vibration or clutch chatter? Or could it be a result of high rpm usage? Could this cause other problems in the future? I ask because I just pulled my trans on saturday to get it rebuilt and if it would be a good idea to replace it I would like to know. Thanks.

Even if it isn't the problem I would replace the pilot bearing. It's only a few bucks and should have been replaced when you got the clutch done. Usually though it will squeel if it's bad, not chatter. It's possible that the throwout bearing or fork is causing the noise. Might not have been lubricated correctly.

When I got my 81Z the clutch slipped sometimes (those more gas than clutch times). I bought a new clutch and pressure plate, throwout bearing and pilot bushing. The p bushing in the car was totally wore out (you could put your thumb into it). The clutch was not wore out, but it slipped, it did not chatter.
