9 Bolt Questions - Experts Help

I just bought a spare Borg-Warner 9 Bolt. There's a tag on one of the bolts that says it has 3.27 gears. What do I need to take out to have these gears put in my 3.70 posi?
I'm not sure if the rear turns or not but then again the rotors are rusted solid, but then again, I only paid $20 for the rear

You want to go from 3.70 to 3.27?

2250 at 60. Must be nice. My truck does 2800 at 60. 4.10 gears, 28" tall tires and 4L80E OD tranny.

Dropping from 3.70 to 3.27 would make highway driving better but stoplight driving will seem sluggish. My car had 3.27 gears and the previous owner pinned the speedo to 140mph with those gears. After some modifications I used those gears to get my best ET's so they're not as bad as you would expect.

Another thing you could consider is just installing a taller tire. That would have the same effect as changing the gears. The taller tire would put a larger contact patch on the ground and the 3.70 gears would give the torque multiplication to get the car moving. Factory tires are about 26" tall. Up to 28" tall will easily fit.

I've considered all that, and still want to go thru with it. What do I have to take out of the old rear and about how much will it cost me to get it put in?
ALSo, someone I know told me that the 3.27's probably won't fit where the 3.70's were?
Anyone?

the 3.27 should fit and the posi should fit
