92rs diff info for a 3.73 posi swap

i'm pretty sure the gear ratio on the 92rs is 3.42, but i don't know the ring size.(i'd rather not take the cover off again and measure if someone knows) i /have a 7-5/8 3.73 ring and pinion with a GM posi carrier to put in. i'm not sure on the 2-3 series info. will this swap work? if they are the same size would the swap be as simple as retaining the same shims and slipping the new unit in?

I have a 92 RS as well, and it has a 3.08 gear ratio, which I think is a 2-series carrier. If you have the new diff and gears you will be fine, since your new carrier is more than likely a 3-series which is required for the 3.73 gears. good luck

If the ring gear and carrier were already in a diff together before, and you're putting them both into your rear, it doesn't matter if they're 2- or 3-series, or what your current setup is (which is 3-series, if factory, by the way).

You should have it set up by someone who has the proper special tools and knows what they're doing.

i talked to a guy at summit and he said that if you convert from a 2-series to a 3-series(or vice versa-can't recall) that you will need an adapter piece because one is longer(thicker) than the other. any more info?
