trans shift kit responses

OK guys i need to know what would happen if i put the trans go shift kit in my transmisson with 130K miles on it. Will it kill it faster or will it prolong its life, ive been through
your message boards for a couple of days and
keep getting mixed responses on this issue.
Thanks
jon

Don't install shift kit with those miles and if you do use a difference brand of shift kit. F.C.

With those kind of miles you might get another 100,000 miles or maybe 100 miles. Drop your pan and see what pan looks like.

Shift kits are good and bad. On the good side they firm up the shifts saving the clutchs from wear, on the bad side the firm shifts put strain on the weak links. Its kind of like when you close your car door nice and easy as opposed to slamming the door.

Actually most shift kits are a joke. They give you a little pin to block the line bias. A drill bit to enlarge a hole, a stiffer boost spring and spacers to disable the accumulators. For money it's better to do the servo, .5 boost valve, and flip your accumulator pistons (so they are next to the seperator plate and the spring goes in first). Get the drill bit(s) yourself. It comes out at about the same price so it's like getting a servo and .5 boost valve for free.

Better than 2 little pieces of tubing!!!

The Trans-Go does not block the 1-2 accumulator. It makes quite a few changes in the valve body, such as a new 3-2 downshift valve (along with other modifications) that releases the 3-4 clutch pack quicker. If you install the complete kit it will give you new forward & 3-4 release springs. This will prevent accidental 3-4 clutch apply when taking the engine over 5,000 rpm in first or second gear. It also helps in releasing the 3-4 clutch quicker The Corvette servo helps the firmness of the 1-2 & 2-3 shift. The larger boost valves help with holding power & somewhat the firmnest in the shift. Trans-Go does not block the line bias valve they work with it by changing the spring pressure in relation to which main boost valve (.421-.471-.500) you are using.
The parts I add to the Trans-Go kit go even further in addressing the 1-2 accumulators. When setup correctly you can have a nice part throttle 1-2 shift that gets progressively firmer with more throttle. Trans-go offers this information to those who will call & ask for it. As I stated I offer this info too. Call me at 8007763288 Mon-Sat 10-6 PST.
Glad Too Help!!!

I said 'most'... and yours actually seems like a well put together kit. I was mostly referring to B&M which isn't worth the large cardboard box it comes in. Your kit combined with the corvette servo sounds like an excellent upgrade. Does it come with a modified seperator plate or drill bits to open the apply and release holes?

The info I got on this is .110" on the 1/2 and 3/4 apply and .078" on the 3/4 release and .055" on TV balance. Does this sound about right? I heard somebody throwing different #'s and heard if you go to big on the 3/4 release you can have a cut loose or slide bump on the 4-3 shift.

There are two different 700R4 kits. First if you are going to use the performance shift kit then the hole sizes are 2nd apply .086 if you are using the 12" torque converter or .096 if a 10" torque converter. Third apply .155-.187. Fourth apply .187-.203. The 3-2 downshift .155-.187. The 2nd gear release .110-.116. The rest of the kit goes along with these hole sizes to achieve the desired results. The hole sizes you are mentioning seems to go with the 2004R. Hope this helps!

You guys are confusing me a little. Should I go out and buy a Trans-Go shift kit or should I buy some other kit that offers more parts like the servo?? Need direction, Thanks..

The Trans-Go Performance Shift kit is available two ways, (1) with a video, large boost valves, and Corvette servo (2) or without the video. Hope this helps!
