700R4 work with v6
I have a friend who is wondering if a 700R4 would work his 86 base model V6 camaro. i dont know much info on trannys so i thought id ask you guys!

Sure, just need to get one from a V6 Camaro or Firebird. Best to get one from an '87 or newer. The f-body 700R4 will be the correct length along with having the proper tailhousing with the torque arm mount.
It also needs to be from a 6 as the bell's are different between the 8's and 6's. Best bet is to find a junkyard car with one and get all the other parts involved (sounds like a swap from a stick?). Flexpate & bolts, cover, shifter cable, console, shifter, etc. Note that the stick driveshaft will work.
Another note: check on the V6 board here for engine balance. Someplace along the way GM changed the balance of the V6 engines. This will dictate which flex plate is required.

okay thanks, my friend was wondering if the 700R4 out of my iroc would work on his base model V6, so it will not work, thanks for the help
