'96 T56 Clutch for installation into my 84.

Here's what I've got:

'96 Tranny
'84 Camaro with ZZ4 engine (one piece rear main seal)

What I need:
Clutch and Flywheel

#1) Can I just purchase a clutch and flywheel for a '96 Z, since my engine is a one piece crank?

#2) No matter what I do, the SAME flywheel won't fit the ZZ4 and the 400 I'm thinking of building, will it? How about the clutch?

#3) Anyone know of a good clutch that will hold ~400-450RWHP that won't break the bank? I've got about $600 to spend on a clutch and flywheel.

1)The stock LT1 flywheel and clutch will fit the ZZ4 motor.
2)I'm about 99% positive that this same flywheel won't fit the 400 motor.
3)I have the McLeod street clutch disc. It is a kevlar/carbon fiber/asbestos design and should hold 400 hp no problem. It cost me $135 from www.performancess.com Part# 261871. I'm using this clutch with the LT4 pressure plate (actually it's the Centerforce dual friction pressure plate but they are the same thing. The LT4 pressure plate is said to be one of the best) because thats what the transmission had on it when I bought it.

The flywheel will not fit the 400, but Centerforce and McLoed sell flywheels for your application. You can then reuse the T56 clutch, but the flywheel will cost you close to $300.

Star Performance Engineered Clutches seem to have great parts, service, and reasonable prices. Call them at 1-800-828-4379 or www.specpwr.com

The Centerforce T56 Dual-friction clutch is like $529. Ouch.

I have an SLP clutch which is rated at 40% more clamping power than stock for $340. (732)349-2109 or www.slponline.com
