ok i have a 83 z28, n when ever it shifts into 2nd gear i get a loud clunk or a bang , thats when i go around the turn or sometimes even if i floor it of the start, i changed the tranny mount but it still does it but not like it use to.. n e sugestions? i also might be getin a 700r4 of a 88 vette. would that fit rite up to my 305? thanx for the help

Yes, it will bolt up, but you will have to check out the wiring to the solenoids on the valve body. The 1983's had 2-3-4 lockup (too busy), the 1988's had 3-4 lockup only & this is what you want. The 1988's had many improvements over the 1983's. Make sure you use the torque converter that came with the 1988, it is a 30 spline. The 1983 is a 27 spline.

I just noticed you said it is out of a 1988 Corvette? Then the tail housing is completely different & apx. 1" shorter & will not work, and possibly the transmission did not come with mounting holes for the transmission mount. A 1988 & later out of a 3rd gen would work though.

 

if i get the shaft out of the vette, wil it stil work?
