is it possible to bolt a turbo 350 up in place of a 700r4?
what all has to be done to make this work? my 700r4 took a crap and i need something quick and my friend has a turbo 350 just sitting at his house that he said is fresh with a competion kit in it and a shift kit.. so can i just bolt that right in or do i need to do something else to make it work? i do know that i have to get a hold of b&m to get the pin to make my shifter a 3 speed again if i do this. also if anyone knows is there a different bracket that the shifter cabe mounts to for the tranny? also i heard that i will loose low end due to the fact that the 700r4's are geared way different thanks for all the help.. i guess should also ask what are the pros and cons of switching to a different tranny.

this run is before the new exhaust system new sticky tires coolant by pass smog removal new runners new thermostat and new three core radiator since i would get to the line and be well over 220* aluminum drive shaft and vette servo

You'll need a different torque converter. You need an adaptor to mount the torque arm. The TH350 detent cable isn't the same as the TV cable. A long tail shaft TH350 (9") can use the 700R4 driveshaft. The short 6" tailshaft needs a drive shaft out of a 82-83 that had the 200C tranny. You'll also need that 200C tranny crossmember.
The 700R4 just has a very low first gear plus the OD. That low first gear helps a car get off the line better when it has something like 2.77 gears in the rear end. If you put some better gears in the rear end then a TH350 will be fine except anything over 3.73's will give high rpms and poor milage at highway speeds. It won't be any worse than a second gen with a 350 engine and TH350 tranny. Probably get better milage than the older cars now because of the EFI systems.

Chances are it's a 6 inch tailshaft, especially if it's out of a car. 3000 rpm at 60mph with 3.73's and a th350. 2150 rpm at 60 mph with 3.73's and a 700r4. That overdrive is very nice. The th350 has a 2.52:1 ratio first gear. The 700r4 has a 3.06:1 ratio first gear. The crossmember will need to be modified and/or moved forward a few inches. I wouldn't go through the hassle if it wasn't going to be permanent.
