Power Shifting
I was told that you shouldn't power shift a T-5. Why not? Is it different from other manual transmissions? Can you powershift a T56?

Alot of people say not to powershift the t-5 because it is a weaker trans. It's not different than other trannys, and with a mostly stock 305 you shouldn't have any problem with it, but if you have a 350 and a t-5, the extra torque puts much more strain on the t-5 so power shifting is more likely to result in a tranny failure. There is no danger of this with a t-56 because it is much stronger.

power shifting is a lost art to those with horsepower. i would not power shift anything with a cluster like a T-5... maybe even a T-56. have you seen those cluster gears? they are small toothed and weak. i perfer the M-21 Rock Crusher myself, or, n the case of a muncie i perfer a ground-down plymouth cluster gear fitted to work in a muncie 4-speed. they are un-breakable. oh, and don't do any foot-clutch-sliding. T-anythings do NOT like it!
