Your Thoughts?
hey, well i am in need of a new transmission; and wanted to know what would be best, sorry im only 17 dont know that much about transmissions and this is my first car so help would be greatly appreciated.
i have a automatic 1987 camaro iroc-z28 btw
1.)should i just get a new 700r4?
2.) is it possible to change my auto>manual?
3.) price difference?
obviously cheapest would be great but i would be willing to pay a higher price if it is worth it in the long run.

a "new" trans will cost you about 1400 bux, a rebuild about 1k, a used for a couple hundered bux.
You can swap in a manual, its not hard if you have the tools and mechanical ability. It does require cutting holes for the master cylinder and shifter, changing out the pedals (probably the most PITA part) and some wiring.
You can usually get all the parts, used for about 500 bux, including the trans. Though you would probably want to adda few hundred to that number for a new clutch/pressureplate and flywheel, no point using old used stuff.
It also depends on what you want to do with the car.
