Replaced Clutch Now I cant put the car in gear?
I have a 91 camaro, I have put a clutch in it before but the clutch that I had put in the first time was a zoom clutch and was already pretty worn out. I just replaced it with a perfection clutch, new throw out and pilot bearing. I put the clutch in just as I had the previous time with the zoom clutch, but this time it wont let me shift into gear. I am guessing that I need a new slave cylinder. I had my bro step on the clutch pledal while i was under the car and the slave cylinder would only push the fork out about a half inch....ps I bled the system before. I just want to get a second opinion before i go out and buy another cylinder thanks.

That sounds about right. The manual says it should push the fork more than ".57in". I've had to replace this twice already. The first time, I went to the dealership (like an idiot) and bought the entire assembly including both cylinders, reservoir, etc. The second time the slave cylinder failed due to debris getting in the system because of a broken reservoir cap. It is MUCH CHEAPER to go to an auto parts store and buy just the part you need ( i learned that the hard way) as opposed to replacing the assembly as a whole which the haynes manual says is your ONLY option. For me, i had to CUT THE PLASTIC RETAINING STRAPS both times on the new slave cylinder for it to start releasing all the way. You'll see what i'm talking about when you get your new cylinder. GOOD LUCK
