tranny prob with shift kit! dumb people rule/suck!!
ok so my friend has a 1992 RS. it has the L03 beast in it. slow as can be.
well he got the B&M shift improver kit for xmas from his gf. and i told him to take it back for the transgo, but no he wouldnt.
ok so they put it in thursday night. first time andy and mark had time. so it went in in about 5hrs including some food and cleanup. they said it wasnt really that bad to do. so i was like cool maybe we will put in my transgo when i get it.
know marks RS is sitting outside of andys driveway behide his MONTE SS because it doesnt have reverse and it slips through forward gears.
what could cause this. they have no clue and he doesnt want to spend all his graduation money on a new trans. thanks!
any ideas will help.!

the trans was run for a few days, driven decent. i hope he didnt run it hard. but still. i know he drove the car for a good 3-4 days before noticing this.
anyone else have an idea, and thanks Jay i will tell them to look those things over, they are working on it tomorrow.

Drove it 3-4 days with no reverse?? Thats strange. Anyway, Loss of reverse usualy has to do with two things. Both being with the pressure regulator assembly. First thing is that the c-clip that holds the assembly in place has to be correctly seated within the very top grove. If it is not, you will have low line pressure causing no reverse and possible slipping in all gears. Next thing is the reverse boost valve itself. This is one of the valves in the pressure regulator assembly. Make sure it is in the right way and is not upside down or in the wrong position. All this is in the pressure regulator assembly and does not require the valve body to come down. Refer to the B&M instructions and assemble the pressure regulator assembly correctly. This should fix the problem.

I did that same kit in my car. The longest part was the "line bias valve" for reverse. That's what B&M called it. It was the hardest to get at, and it had about 8 seperate pieces. You had to get them just right, or "NO REVERSE". It said that in the instuctions. Or if the slightest amount of dirt got in there.
It maybe possible, like 91L98 said, that he didn't get it seated right. I know it was very difficult to push that sucker back up there without trans fluid dripping on your face. Or he got it flipped around, upside down, or whatever. That or the check ball location.
About the only way, as said before, is to take it apart and check it all. 5 hours is a long time, and it isn't hard to get tired and overlook stuff.

ok so we figured it out. the stuff up in that bore. the inner piston was upside making a vacuum with the other piece.
we fixed it but mark already roasted the rest of the trans so he sent it today to a transmission guy. oh well.
