Re: shift kit and shifter(auto)

I'm running a B&M shift kit currently, but would like to upgrade to the Transgo- I had one in my Blazer and LOVED the transgo. I logged over 120k w/ Transgo Stage II, .490 boost valve, B&M shift+, Vette servo, and ultimately the only problems I had w/ the rear in the Blazer was axle bearings, and a pinion bearing at 330k. Granted, it was a different vehicle, but basically same axle and trans. BTW, it chirped into 2nd everytime I let it shift at 2500+.

Both kits are hard on u joints depending on how hard you adjust it too- the only time they'd be hard on the rear end would be if you're running slicks or a sticky street tire I would think.

Stock shifter in my case.

Re: shift kit and shifter(auto)

i shatterd my pinion with a custom made shift kit and trans rebuld
but mine lays out rubber (not just barkin) shifting in to 2nd to
mine prob built like or better than hawks ..... its totaly custom got all kinds of racing parts and crap in it, running a 2400 stall also.... i also had to get all poly bushings for my tq arm and trans .... it would rip rubber ones in half in no time

i highly doubt a B&M kit would tear anything up

Mine was rebuilt at 228k, 800 miles after I did all the mods- I grenaded the sunshell. Lasted about 120k more before the valvebody gave up.

Knock on wood- in the Z, I just have the OEM trans w/ .500 boost valve, vette servo, and B&M kit- shifts VERY hard. Just another time bomb .
