T-5 reverse
T-5 reverse
Are there supposted to be synchros for reverse in the T-5? Just wondering if my T-5 is messed up or if that's how it's supposted to be. Also, it makes a humming/whining noise while cruising, higher pitched the faster you go. Not really loud, but definaly noticable. Is this normal too?

I'm fairly certain there's a synchro to Reverse, but it is weaker than the rest so it wears out faster. I avoid the grinding noise by pressing the clutch in, shifting to 5th and then to reverse. Also, check the fluid level, that can make a high pitched noise.

While only a few very exotic cars used to have a synchro reverse, it's more common now. However, I don't believe the T-5 has it. If it grinds, the gears are probably spinning from a bit of clutch drag. Just put it in another geat before going to reverse.
