Were they shaking straight up/down? Or any side to side wobbling?

Re: over 65 if you dare to
to see them shaking is not good. most can notice a wobble or a vibration but never be able to see it. id say wat stephen said... check the lug nuts. i would not think ud have bowed or warped axles. could be wheel balancing but it wouldnt casue them to shake soo bad that u would be able to see it throught ur mirror
the driveshaft will not cause the wheels to vibrate.it will just cause a vibration that u will feel through the car.

I've seen some very very out of balance wheels out on the highway, so bad they come off the ground. No idea how those people drive with so much vibration but they do lol.

Re: over 65 if you dare to
It could be the tires formed a memory for sitting for so long...you could try another set and see if that works......also my car...along with many many others.....have had a vibration about 65-75...(do a search on it you'll find a lot)....what it is...the steel factory driveshaft in f-bodies are too small in diameter and at higher speeds..they worrble...causing a bad vibration....if you can find it..car craft did a driveshaft article about camaro's and showed pics of the driveline as it was spining..some bowed in the middle...some even bowed in the shape of an S.....the fix is to replace it with a aluminum drive shaft out of another camaro...usually a fourth gen....this fixed my car completely..of course after replacing everything else first..I would have never guessed drive line...but just a idea for you to maybe check out...

And he was right...Could very well be the tire has formed a flat spot from sitting.

Re: over 65 if you dare to
agree. swap the tires and see. but if they have cracks i would just replace them completely... hopefully this fixes the prob. and make sure when they balance them they check the rim to make sure its not bent.
ive seen flat spots in tires... but u would feel it at all speeds.... everytime the wheel rotated over that spot. the driveshaft i dont think would make the wheels move... come on guys lol. it would just cause a vibration. the rear end would have to shake as well which we all kno isnt happening.
the driveshaft could be out of balance but not making your tires move like that. idk if your mechanic messed with the pinon angle etc. im gona do with wheel probs or axle probs

I'd bet ya $100 it's the factory steel line....balancing won't help....replace it with aluminum and it'll fix it!!!

Re: over 65 if you dare to
Well it could be tires like said above...but I know mine felt like the dang rear end was going to rip out of it......after the new aluminum line....I ran it out on the interstate and at 130 with no vibration...I figured that was fast enough....I was so used to it vibrating I didn't really notice I was really haulin' butt.....Even if that doesn't fix the problem....it's a thing you should do to your car anyways....IMO..

Re: over 65 if you dare to
The fourth gen rear should be same....but I dunno about the th350....you might have to do some research on that.....maybe get a custom line made....I think th350 are shorter, so you'll need a longer line.....I don't know for sure though.....

Re: over 65 if you dare to
the TH350 is shorter than the 700r4... u will need a custom one built.
steel is stronger than aluminum. and the weight diff is negleable. i would get a nice 3.5" moly or DOM steel one... u should never be able to break that ever and they are balanced way better than the stockers... just like aluminum and carbon fiber

Re: over 65 if you dare to
well the problem with the steel one...at least factory ones...that even if balanced...they bow or worbble at speed....so make sure a custom steel is a larger diameter or thicker or something.....

Re: over 65 if you dare to
hey quick guestion is the driveshaft the same size from a 3rd to 4th gen? i gotta 700r4 not a th350. say i went to a junkyard and took a magnet to the driveshaft of a 4th gen, and it was aluminum, would it be plug and play? and is the driveshaft 100% aluminum? or is there any type of metal in there. if its got some metal in there then itll pull the magnet.

Re: over 65 if you dare to
the driveshafts all fit 82-02 auto and manual transmission..so yes 4th gen to a 3rd gen will fit...they even made some third gens with a factory aluminum line......you'll be able to tell if it's aluminum...it's a lot bigger around than the steal one...but a magnet might work.....

Re: over 65 if you dare to
3rd and 4th gens are the same... driveshaft is the same... only diff with the rear drivetrain is the axle tubes on the rear are 2" longer than the 3rd gen so the rear end is 4" wider than ours.
yea def get a larger DIA shaft... i stated like a 3.5" or so.... some go 4" but the 3.5" is fine. thats what most of the aftermarket driveshafts are... the stock iron is 2.5"
