Topic says it all. And if you could give me a write-up on how to fix the tranny mounts, I'd be very thankful, my Chiltons doesn't give very good directions.

I think I should also mention, my tranny is shot (fluid brown, still shifts ok -most- of the time, but can get gay). Should I just wait to replace the mounts when the tranny gets done, or what?

Doh, my bad, I just saw the tech article on this very same subject. Sorry. But still, is it still safe to drive?

While i dont know about the safety aspect of driving, i can recomend a good mount. Goto jegs.com and order their energy suspensions' mount. I bought a 91 z28 back in feb and have blown two mounts since. I had my mech put in the energy suspension one and it has worked great since. The part itself costs about $28 shipped from them, and you can get them in designer colors! (as if that matters, but i still got the red one to match my car.)

Just so you know, Summit carries whose same mounts for 20.95, and thier ground shipping is free. If you live on the coasts, you'd get the parts in 1 to 2 days.

Just a little FYI

You don't wanna drive on a shot mount cause it will mess up your drivetrain. The mount is what keeps you tranny from jumpin around like a grasshopper. if you mash the gas and get good traction you can mess up your driveshaft and the tranny.

You put Mt. Dew in the gas tank!?!

Wow, look at it go!

Plus $6.95/order handling fee. Sounds pretty close to $28 to me...

Well I just had one fixed in my car. Before I did it if you were to mash the gas the tranny would jump up and hit the floorpan. Also it would break the rear tires loose. I paid 85 for a shop to fix mine. If you do it yourself have something to support the tranny for when you pull the mount. This is also a good time to check all the front suspension for wear tear and damage.

I just used my floor jack on the torque arm near the cross member and removed the cross member and put the mount in. Took more time to put the front of the car on jack stands.
