I have an Auburn high performance series in my S-10, it works good for a light vehicle.
My brother has an Eaton in his stock 1989 4x4 silverado, the eaton has different springs available to adjust preload and it comes with carbon fiber clutch disks that operate smooth and requires no special friction additive.

i've got slp's take-off posi. it works perfectly for me, especially for the price ($100). but, it probably won't be strong enough for serious power.

I second the SLP take-off. Very cool unit, does the trick too.

Another one for the slp zexel torsen. At $99, you can't find a better differential.

Buddy here has a highly modified, street/emissions legal ZZ3 TPI, estimated 400HP. He's had factory, Auburn (not Pro) & Eaton posi's, trouble with each. He called SLP about their Zexel, told them what he had and the problems he's having, they told him, "You have the best possible right now with your Eaton. Fix what's wrong with it, or get a 9" or 12-bolt."

He's tempted to go with a PowerTrax, but doesn't have a non-posi carrier.

That doesn't exactly anwser your question, but makes PowerTrax look pretty good to me.

Another option is a 9 bolt. They are stronger than a 10 bolt, but not as expensive as a 9 inch.

The 9 bolt carrier is entirely different than a 10 bolt which is what makes it a lot stronger (but still far from a 9 inch).

If your making more than 500rwhp, you should be running a 9 inch.

Currently installing 3.73's into my 9 bolt (YES,it is a 9 bolt & YES they are 3.73's, not 3.70. 4.11's to follow soon )

How much power can the Torsen hold up to? Also, what abou thte heavy duty torsen that you can get from SLP? I'm planning on 430-450 flywheel HP, and need something to hold up to street use, with a few passes down the 1/4 each year.

Working on:
'84 Z28 LG4 305 with 208,000 original miles!
Dual electric fans (from a formula).
145 MPH IROC Speedo
430 HP 350 (ZZ430) Coming soon! (Building it myself, so I don't get those AWESOME valve covers!)

Starting to look like the Kicker poster child!

And....A sig. that's getting way too long!

Good enough for full burnouts and 12-flat times. I'm probably pushing 450 rwhp.

If you're running serious hp, don't go with Auburn. I fried mine in less than one year.

are you running an auto or manual trans?? i think a lot depends on which trans you use. As far as I know, automatics make the rear end and axles hold up better unless you go with a trans brake.
