LSD replacement, a few questions
The LSD in my 88 trans am gta is worn out. Resulting in sad one weel burnout.
Im looking for an easy drop in replacement. I have no experience in the workings of the rear diff, so I will have to pay my way out of this.
The car is only used for funn around the town driving ie. stoplight burnouts and a few donuts, so the most important thing is that when asked to, both weels turn.
I have been reading up on LSD choices and the Powertrax No-slip traction system seems like an ideal choice for my use.
It is described as a direct bolt in replacement. is this true ?
Does it matter what gear ration I have ?
As I understand it the only thing that matters is if one have a 7.5 or 7.625. Is this correct?
Thanks

The Power Trax will not work in the differetnial that you have right now. You will first have to swap the differential and then install the Power Trax. If you decide to go with a Power Trax the Lock Right works much better. The No-Slip has caused a lot of problems.
A better choice in your case would be the Eaton Posi. The installation will be just as easy because you are going to have to replace the differential anyway. As long as you have a 3.23 to 3.73 gear the Eaton will be fine. The price is $445 and you will need bearigns and shims to go with it. Here is something to help with the installation. http://www.nastyz28.com/forum/showth...ht=change+posi

Re: LSD replacement, a few questions
Ok, this was good information. From all that I have read It was not clear that the Powertrax could only be put in a differential that was open to begin with, and not one that was originally an LSD.
I have been looking at my RPO codes find out what gearing I have. But I can not find any of the codes for the 10 bolt. Could I have a different differential alltogether ?
(im currently on business, the car is 5000 miles away, so I only have the vin and rpo to look at)
would you mind looking at my RPO codes :
