Clutch linkage install problem
Clutch linkage install problem
Im finishing up a T5 swap and need to know how the hydraulic clutch linkage bolts to the firewall.
I know im going to have to cut some holes for the bolts, but do i need to cut a hole for the pushrod, or will it share the hole with the brake booster pushrod?
I know that the tech article says to look at how it was in the junkyard car, but i didn't get my parts from a junkyard so im stumped.
I appreciate any help with this cause i can't seem to think of any way to properly line up the linkage.

you're in a sticky situation, huh?
I did this on my '83 car but it was a 5 speed to begin with. I had a hole for the pushrod and was told it lined up with the origional hole. it didn't.
anyway, You've gotta cut a new hole for your mastercylinder (the clutch master, that is). The master cylinder has to mount so that the pushrod is pushing straight into the bore when actuated by the pedal. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY! ask me how I know
. You can use the struts that go from the pedal assmebly to the firewal as a rough guide to drill some holes for the u-shaped retaining bolt. then cut a hole for the master cylinder to protrude through the firewall. Then it becomes a game of trial and error. sorry, but there's really not a good way to make it work with one cut. you'll be lucky if you do. you'll probably have to elongate your holes to move the master around a little to get perfect alignment. IT HAS TO BE PERFECT! otherwise you'll destroy the mastercylinder in about 4 strokes
email me if you need any further info. this is kind of a pita.
