Anyone who knows some stuff about T-56's please read
Alright heres the deal. I bought a 1997 T-56. All it comes with is the bellhousing. I thought I heard something about there being two different slave cylinders for these trannys. Is this true? If so can do I have to get a 97 slave cylinder? I have a chance to get a 95 will that work? thanks for any help!

I dont know about two different slave cylinders, but yes, one from a 95 should work. A new one is about $100.

Hey thanks for replying. $100? Does that include any of the hoses?

Yep it comes as a complete sealed unit, with the master and slave and all the hoses.be careful not to get any air into your unit.I learned the hard way and had to replace one.Ive read that you can bleed these units but it's not that effective...good luck...87 T/A WS6 6 SPEED 373 's

I need help with the wiring part of the swap. What do I need to make the reverse lights work and the clutch safety?

David Arntz posted the part #s for the connectors a while back:
Reverse Lockout Connector: GM#12101857
VSS Connector: GM#12101899
Backup Light Connector: GM#12085485
Wire the VSS to your ECM if you're still using one, otherwise wire it up to an electronic speedometer so you'll know how fast you're going.
The Reverse Lockout just needs voltage and a ground switch, some people have used the brake pedal switch...others just left it out of service and "crash the gate."
The Backup Lights are just extended from your existing shifter harness to the T56 connector.

I am swapping from an auto how do I know which wires go from the neutral safety switch to the T-56?

super83Z - take a look at macewen's web page. He has an excellent tech article on the swap. It tells which wires to bypass the neutral safety switch, and the wires for the reverse lights to work. Actually I think his atricle is posted on this site under 'Tech articles' on the front page.
Good luck!
Good luck!
