AM I getting ripped off?
Took my car (grand marquis) to a trans guy today, noticed the vacuum tube from the throtle body was off, so I replaced the grommet and now the car still won't shift into rd or 4th and just revs after shifting out of 2nd. He said that that vacuum hose controls the fluid the cools the gears and that the hose being off caused it to overheat and loose the gears. He also said he can see metal in the fluid, I can't so he said well its really small. So I am wondering if I'm getting the run around, any advice?

Can I assume that you have an AOD and you lost 3rd and 4th? This is the weakest point in that tranny. Looking at it wrong in the AM will take them out. Whether it was the higher heat, I don't know. Are you being ripped off? Only if the tranny doesn't last. 2X a low price is ussually more than 1X a quality job.
