*** Damn It!!! - Tranny reinstalled and vibrates BADLY!!!

Hey guys, a little while ago I posted that I did my first tranny swap and when I popped the car into gear the car stayed in place. (https://www.thirdgen.org/messgboard/Forum13/HTML/004467.html)

Anyways I was told that my Torque Converter wasn't engaging cause I didn't line up the notches. I took the tranny out, lined up the notches and put everything back in. Now I go to start the car and the tranny starts vibrating. The problem I had before is gone (wheels now in gear and spin faster as I press on gas) When I press on the gas in any gear the car starts vibrating harder and harder.

What in hell could casue this??? My fairly knowledgable friend told me that either my Flexplate is bent or my Torque Coinverter is toast. Does either one sound possible?

I am very close to just selling the car unless I can resolve this problem.

PLEASE!!! Somebody with experience on these trannies tell me WTF is going on here

Thanks for all your help,
-Max

Ohh yeah, could a loosely bolted or bad tranny mount casue this? (The bolt on my tranny mount is stripped)

The vibrating is so severe that small objects start bouncing on the floor around the tranny!

You should jack the car up and carefully look at the converter while its running to see if it runs true. Can't think of anything else except for internal converter problems, maybe unbolt the converter, push it back and run it to see what happens.

Anybody else? I'm really stumped here. As far as I can see both the TC and the Flexplate spin straight from under the car.

I think you may have answered the question yourself when you said you have a stripped out tranny mount. I would fix that right away before you might really do some damage to tranny. Then see what happens.

Ohh my *** !!!

Get this guys, it wasn't the tranny vibrating, it was the backpressure in the engine vibrating the whole car.

When I looked under the car I saw smoke Pouring out of my Cat converter, I immediately thought that the cat was plugged and was casuing the bad back pressure inside. I took it off and voila the tranny doesn't shake AT ALL! The car's as smooth as a Benz (sort of )

Anywasy the new question is what should I do about this. The cat is brand new (0 miles). It was the direct fit flowtech (I think) from Summit. Who should I call up for a replacment? Summit or the manufacturer?

Anywasy I'm taking the car out for a test drive with no cat and a new tranny. Should be fun!

If the problem is the cat, call Summit. I've never had any problems with them replacing or refunding anything.
