5 speed to 700r4 swap have some questions to ask...

Ok well my engine makes more power than the factory WC T5 can handle. After calling up a couple of companies that offer *bulletproof* T5's, they all pretty much told me that my engine is exceeding the peak torque input rating of their transmission, and that 3000+ RPM clutch dumps with sticky tires will break it. Plus there is no room for power upgrades like nitrous. Because of this I have decided to go wth a built 700r4. I am starting to accumulate the parts needed for the conversion but I have some questions....

1. Pilot bearing/bushing. I have a roller pilot bearing in the crankshaft now. Will I have to take it out for the snout of the torque converter to fit into the crank?

2. The clutch start switch. Since I will be removing the clutch/brake pedal assemblies and replacing them with auto counterparts, what will I do with the clutch start switch? I assume that the yellow and purple wires are the same that would go to the neutral safety switch on the auto shifter? If so, can I just lengthen the wires and hook them up to the auto shifter and they should work, right?

3. Transmission cooler lines. I don't have the transmission yet but just wanted to know about the cooler lines. Coming out of the transmission, are they a threaded hole, or are they a push in and click style like the 4L60E units? If they are threaded, what size are they?

4. Shift lock. The shifter that I got from the junkyard came out of a 91 trans am. It had 2 cables on it. One that went to the transmission gear selector, and the other went up under the dash behind the brake pedal. I assume it is for a shift lock. Is this something that I need for definite? Will the shifter shift out of Park if I don't have it hooked up?

5. The hole(s) in the sheetmetal for the shifter area. With the 5 speed I have a huge hole where the shifter comes out of. Are there any blockoff plates to cover it? For the auto, there is a circular hole where the shift cable goes through and there is a huge rubber grommet that seals it. Does anyone know what size that hole is?

6. I bought ARP flywheel bolts that bolted the flywheel to the crankshaft. Will I be able to reuse these bolt for an automatic flexplate?

7. Along the same lines as question 6, I have a set of ARP block studs that screw into the block where the bellhousing attaches to. Should I be able to reuse those as well?

Well, that's about all the questions that I have for now. If anyone can shed some insight, it would be most appreciated. Thanks for your time! Paul M

Re: 5 speed to 700r4 swap have some questions to ask...

1. take it out

2. yes, lengthen and attach to auto shifter switch

3. threaded, not sure on size

4. not sure, sorry

5. you nee to make the new block off plate, or cut a piece from a doner car. Not sure about the hole size, if you have the grommet, meause it. Or like i sadi before cut the entire piece from a doner car and weld it back in.

6. flywheel bolts are longer, they may interfeer with the block. Check and see, you may be able to use them.

7. the studs should be fine.
