change to 5-speed?

i'm thinking about swapping out my 700 R for a 5 speed.....how difficult of a switch is this and what would anyone think it would cost in a ballpark figure.....reason being i'm not sure if it would be more beneficial to switch my car from being a 5.0 w/ auto to a 5.0 w/ 5 speed or to make it a 5.7 w/ auto.....what do you think is better?

i heard somewhere that the 5 speed can't handle the torque of a 5.7.....but i'd like to find out first hand b/c a 5.7 w/ 5 speed would be nice.....how difficult of a tranny swap is that?

I'm doing it right now. It's not too hard. Make sure you get everything you need. Bell housing, the right starter, clutch master and slave cylinder. The only thing I didn't like about it was that I had to pull the column and pull the center console out. I kinda got a huge mess going on. And I cut the hole too big for the shifter. Oh well. I have a welder. It's in and ready to go. Just gotta put the column back and I'll probably drive around for a while with no console to see how fun it is. It's a lot of work but it's so well worth it.

I just got done doing an auto to 5 speed swap
this weekend. Its not that bad as long as you have measuraments to go by. Don't let anyone tell you that a 5 speed out of a v6 will be fine in a v8. I spent the last month trying to find a clutch to fit the input shaft. (the v6 uses a 14 spine and the v8 uses a 26) I ended up using a 6v clutch with a v8 flywheel and pressure plate. It worked but I'll be relacing a clutch very soon. The v8 is going to burn it up. As long as you have all the right parts it isn't that bad though. It only took me a day to do it once I found all the right parts.
