Tranny just seems to "slide into second gear,What could be the problem?

I've got a 700r-4 in my 82firebird,My mods are listed below.Recently i've noticed that instead of the car banging into second gear like it used to,It just seems to "slide into second,Like it's just a regular tranny with no shift kit or anything.Every gear after that seems o.k.Does anyone know what the problem might be and what it'll take to fix it?

I know that feeling, I had the same with my last gearbox after the ZZ4 install. With me it meant the 700r4 couldn't handle the power. Have you tried adjusting the TV cable at all? If you already have a shift kit then it sounds like your box needs a bit of a overhaul.. Don't quote me on that though

I had the tranny out of a '92 Z28 for the same thing. The lug on the 2-4 band broke and came disengaged from the anchor, causing the band to slip before finally applying. More than likely, you have problems w/ the servo, or a mechanical malfuntion similar to the one I described.
