governor wieghts

I have an 84 Camaro that originally came with
a carbed 305.I installed a mild 355 and would
like to raise the shift points. With the t.v.
cable set properly it shifts at 4700-4900rpms
I bought the B and M governor calibration kit
and would like to know what weights to use to
get the tranny to shiftat 5700-5900rpms.I also was wondering if any one has mixed regular and synthetic trans fluid.I was going to do a filter and fluid change and
top up the fluid with mobil 1,but I don`t
want to mix the two if they are not compatible
Thanx once again for all your help

Don't ever mix synthetics and regular trans fluids.
I have never owned a B&M governor weight kit but find it hard to believe there are no instructions with it. You might want to start off with the lightest weights and see what happens.

The kit contains alot of small pieces and I
would rather not open it yet.I think it will
tell you how to install it but I don`t want
to take it apart any more than I have to.
So if anyone could tell me what wieghts would give me the shift points around where I want I would appreciate it
thank you

No problem mixing regular and syunthetic oils. Even a partial fill with synthetic will raise the boiling point of the oil.

Use the lighter governor weights to raise the shift points. Since you want to go fairly high jump to the lightest ones they come with but leave the springs alone. Just judge the WOT at this point. If that is satisfactory then look at the part throttle shift points. Lighter springs make for higher shift points and heavier earlier. You can also mix them to tailor the curve some more. The kit will include special pins with clips so changing off the weights will be easier.

Dont just put in the lightest weights.
I have the same kit, I am using the next heavier weight than stock and the shift point is 5800 rpm.
This is not in a thirdgen, but the same tranny. Initilly I went two weights heavier and ended up at 6500 RPM.
Just FYI.

PS, I am still using the stock springs.

Cheers
