Clutch.... slipping? smell... burn.... HELP ME

Alright
here it is.... I have a 92 RS 3.1
it has the 5-spd... i bought the car bout a year and a half ago... about a year ago i had to put a new clutch in it cuz it was slipping really bad, i mean i could have it in 5th gear and push the gas down and the tach would just go up, but the car wasn't going anywhere, when we put the new clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing, mastercylinder, and slave cylinder in it seemed to fix it the clutch we had taken out however didn't look like it was worn enough for it to slip that bad....
so now its like almost a year later....
when i get down on the car and run through the gears... not even really hard... maybe winding it to bout 4000 rpms there is a terrible smell that fills the car... it smells kinda like burning hair (or clutch)
is there a way to make the clutch engage tighter or something???
help me
any ideas at all....
thanks guys

I can think of one possiblity for sure. If you've got a rear main seal leak (or other leak within the bellhousing area) the clutch will get fluid on it and slip. Is It slipping now when you get into the throttle?

I would think you'd have to have a fairly substantial leak for this though. Like a spot-in-your-driveway type of leak.

I doubt you have a leak if you don't see any evidence of one. It shouldn't be too hard to check though if it would make you feel better. Just take off the inspection cover...oh, wait...not sure you can do that. I'm not sure how a 3.1 is set up. My '83 Z28 had an inspection cover that was sandwiched between the bellhousing and engine. If it's like that You'd have to pull the tranny.

Is is possible there's another source of the buring smell???

I'll think on it some
(not sure why you're smelling it, but no slippage)

Clem

Its got me stumped too...
I can't figure out why I'd be smelling it if there is no slippage either.... Its driving me nuts though...
I can't think of anything else that might be causing the smell... can you think of anything?
It only happens when i kinda get down on it (not even really hard) but when I run through the gears and wind it up a little... then bout the time I hit the middle of fourth gear I start smelling it... It stinks really bad too... Kinda smells like burning Hair (haha) or brakes or something, but it can't be brakes cuz i ain't even touching them... and it only does it when I wind it up... any ideas are welcome... thanks
