Re: wont fit back on

what tranny are you working on? most automatics for chevy don't have a top cover. the 700r4 doesn't have a top cover and the only thin to impede the tail housing is the speedo gears. take the speedo out and the tail housing should slide right on.

Re: wont fit back on

It's a "W"orld "C"lass T5. It's the stronger type of the T5 transmissions.

Re: wont fit back on

It's second design. aka "World Class" :barf: to people who like 80s One Minute Manager, Total Quality Management, Management By Objective, 7 Habit Of Highly Effective People buzzwords. Not that any of that matters, that part of all of them goes back together (or not) the same way. Wrong question to ask.

Sounds to me like you don't have the transmission in the same gear the shifter is in.

Re: wont fit back on

See:
http://www.pomoforacing.com/tech/T5Rebuild2002.pdf

There's a tab on 5th gear conical washer that has to line up with a notch in the tailshaft housing or the case won't bolt up. There's a blow up picture on this in the pdf and instructions on how to do it.

Re: wont fit back on

If it shifts into & out of all the gears, it's OK.
