th350C freshly rebuilt, barely moves 91 camaro?

Hi everyone! well i just rebuilt my 1986 th350C for my 91 camaro. I used a transtar rebuild kit and a B&M transpak. well i put in in the car and fired it up today on the lift. i put the car in reverse and every gear and the tires only turn if u rev it out to about 3500rpm. it has a brand new hughes performance 2000 stall converter so idk. we put it on the ground and it does the same thing. The car just barely crawls the B&M kit siad to take 3 of the check ***** out of the valve body so i did. a guy i talked too said this could be the problem because the pressure cant build up in the valve body with the 3 ***** removed. there are still 2 in there by the way. i need help please!

did you fill the torque converter with ATF before you installed it?

no i did not. the guy helping me install it said it would fill up after running it. we put 8 quarts in and ran it which lowered the oil level so im guessin it filled the converter up so we added 2 more for a total of 10 which the people at autozone said it took that much

Always fill the torque converter! Sounds like whats happening. Without fluid in the converter, it won't move at all.

ok so i talked to a mechanic at work today. (i work at a ford dealership unfortuntly, but theres alot of benifits lol, hes a gm guy who has an 85 camaro) but he said it sounds like my govener is sticking. i asked him if the problem was caused by not fillin the torque converter up with fluid and he asked how long i ran it for and i said 15 to 20 min and he said the converter should have been filled up by that time. so hopefully my pump is working.

ok so i talked to a local transmission mechanic today, he told me that my pump is most likely bad which isint giving me enough pressure. anyone know where i can get a pump for a 350C, not a regular 350?

duh you overlooked the most obvious thing//////the builder. You probably installed the shift kit spring in the valve body for pressure regulator in backwards. if the tapered end isn't in first it will have no pressure. to verify this hook a pressure gauge up to the car and get the line pressure at idle. or just pull the plug and no pressure will come out, just like when a rookie stacks a pump and breaks the pump gears. That might also be the issue, so you could kill two birds with one stone.

BTW the checkball thing that B&M does just eliminates accumulation, two or one checkballs in a th350 is the norm unless you build it stock, a 350c takes 5 not 4 stock, but can still be built B&M's way.
